Unfolding Hidden Structures in Cyber-Physical Systems for Thorough STPA Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Traditional safety analysis techniques have shown difficulties in incorporating dynamically changing structures of CPSs (Cyber-Physical Systems). STPA (System-Theoretic Process Analysis), one the widely used, needs to unfold and arrange all hidden before beginning a full-fledged analysis. This paper proposes an intermediate model “Information Unfolding Model (IUM)” process (IUP)” dynamic which are so help analysts construct control thoroughly.

STPA-SafeSec: Safety and security analysis for cyber-physical systems
Cyber-physical systems tightly integrate physical processes and information and communication technologies. As today’s critical infrastructures, e.g., the power grid or water distribution networks, are complex cyber-physical systems, ensuring their safety and security becomes of paramount importance.Traditional safety analysis methods, such as HAZOP, are ill-suited to assess these systems. Furt...
متن کاملNondeducibility-Based Analysis of Cyber-Physical Systems
Controlling information flow in a cyber-physical system (CPS) is challenging because cyber domain decisions and actions manifest themselves as visible changes in the physical domain. This paper presents a nondeducibility-based observability analysis for CPSs. In many CPSs, the capacity of a low-level (LL) observer to deduce high-level (HL) actions ranges from limited to none. However, a collabo...
متن کاملAutomatic Dimensional Analysis of Cyber-Physical Systems
The first step in building a cyber-physical system is the construction of a faithful model that captures the relevant behaviors. Dimensional consistency provides the first check on the correctness of such models and the physical quantities represented in it. Though manual analysis of dimensions is used in physical sciences to find errors in formulas, this approach does not scale to complex cybe...
متن کاملUnified Knowledge Model for Stability Analysis in Cyber Physical Systems
Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) consist of distributed computation interconnected by computer networks that monitor and control switched physical entities interconnected by physical infrastructures. Finding a common semantic among these diverse components that facilitates system synthesis, verification, and monitoring is a significant challenge of a CPS research program. In the emerging smart grid...
متن کاملDesigned-in Security for Cyber-Physical Systems
T here are at least two types of security vulnerabilities: flawed or insufficient software behavior specifications that allow compromise—for example, authentication that is lacking or that can be spoofed—and incorrect implementation of specifications— buffer overflows being a classic example and Heartbleed being a notable recent one. The sad truth is that the state of the art in specification d...
